Releasing a sigh as her ruby eyes focused on the rapidly moving GPS signature that was her temerarious group. Flipping her phone back into her bag, Lixue ran her hand through her now shimmering onyx hair. Cool to the touch from her cryomancy both the color, length, and style were altered as it freely coiled around her shoulders. Yet that was only part of her disguise as she was wise even to don the Lavender uniform of Kamihama's all-girls academy Mizuna Academy.
Though even with her newfound freedom and foolproof disguise, TSAB had left her penniless and therefore blocked by the societal demands known as currency. Staring daggers at the turnstiles acting as a guardian to the transit halted Lixue's access to ease of transportation through all of Kamihama. While bypassing a simple turnstile would be nothing for her, breaking yet more laws would not only draw more attention to herself but cost her mana that she currently had no way of easily replacing until she arrived at the safe house.
Racking her brain over how to approach the situation as she did not want to use more magic as it only would continue to snowball as the act of magic would have to be covered by yet more magic. Furthermore, she was unaware of what Hexes even looked like or if they were drawn to the use of magic or not, among the very fact of exposing herself to the earthlings as a magic user came with its dreaded thoughts and concerns.
Though amid her mental crisis, Lixue’s eyes were drawn to a booth with rows of odd looking terminals. With further rows of humans lined about as neatly as one would expect of the everyday man. Following her curiosity and lining up at the least populated terminal, she peaked over to the side to see the one currently operating the thermals retrieving what looked to be actual material currency from said device causing her ruby eyes to widen at such a novelty as within the TSAB as well are her home had fazed out physical tender nearly centuries alone. However, if given the choice she would have preferred actual tangible legal tender as it allowed for more freedom and less overall knowledge of how and where one spent their credits. Though as she mused on the political and societal implication of a less monitored currency one an older human tapped on her shoulder to remind her that it was her turn at the terminal causing her to slightly jump as she was yanked back into reality before lightly bowing and thanking the gentleman for his kindness.
Reaching the unknown device, the science office was not entirely sure how to operate the device, but thankfully she did see others place a sort of card into a reader. Arcaica by TSAB standards, yet exciting as she had never seen such old technology firsthand before. Though unfortunately reverse engineering the terminal was not an option with the many eyes currently on her waiting for her to use the device. Shuffling slightly to the right to obscure the card port, Lixue pretended to take out a card and place it in the slot. Though in reality she merely hacked into the terminal and withdrew a sizable amount of currency to cover both travel and recreation. With the question of travel and needs thoroughly answered with at least something odd looks for the general population with the size of her withdrawal. However, she made sure to cover her digital tracks, and even if the criminal element of the population interacted with her they only threatened her disguise. Conquering the turnstile if only for a minor moment as the item known as a year pass required yet another hurdle known as identification. Though a one way ticket still allowed unfettered travel within the city and access to the train station.
Minus holograms and robots, a train station was still a train station no matter where you were. Too many people with the area filled with advertisements and or political propaganda harassing one view wherever your eyes fell.
Squeezing through the sea of people to overlook the map of the area, Lixue spotted a man sitting hunched over staring at the floor. Nothing too out of place as it was not as if she had not seen a world beaten people before, however, the odd floating thing above him was certainly not the norm even with the limited knowledge she had of the planet’s culture. It was kinda cute in that derpy kind of way as it looked like a stick figure with a sheet over its head sort of like a cheap ghost costume. The way it bobbed up and down in the air made Lixue’s mind think of the movement patterns of a jellyfish or the snail like creatures back home and her home’s less than appetizing dishes surrounding them causing the small girl to mildly cringe at the phantom taste of home.
Though as she continued to ruminate on the odd creature, the man that it seemingly watched over got up and started to slowly make his way toward the edge of the tracks. Not thinking much of the man’s movements currently as the cry of the train’s horn signaled the earthings to line up for the train. However, the man’s continued path directly to the tracks instead of the lines set off alarm bells as it was clear the earth man had another goal in mind for the oncoming train.
“Sir stop!”
Adding a verbal demand alongside her rush towards the man as she knew that words would not reach the man as he appeared to be out of touch or perhaps even processed possibly by that odd cheap ghost thing as none of the other humans including the man currently attempting to have head on collision with the train. Upon reaching his back, Lixue drove her knee into the back of the man’s leg causing him to lose his balance before tossing him on his back with a simple hip flip instead of simply overpowering the human as she did wish to draw any more attention than her act of heroism had already done.
Pinning the man down in a full guard, Lixue expected some form of resistance or at least harsh words; however, all that came out of the man’s mouth as he looked up at her dazed and confused was a “Where am I?.. Who are you and why are you on top of me!?”
Blankly staring back with her own moment of befuddlement until she looked back at the odd creature that merely hissed at her as it floated away.
Not bothering to answer the man, Lixue chased after the strange creature dodging around the officers that attempted to stop her for their report.
Continuing her pursuit of the knockoff ghost led her through an alley to the back of what appeared to be a restaurant given the smell of rotting food and stale cigarette smoke unknowingly trapping itself in a dead end or perhaps that was its true goal as the bopping creature appeared almost confident as it turned to face Lixue chittering and shrieking as it charged towards Lixue hellbent on making her it’s next victim.
Side stepping the odd creature while snapping a picture of it with her cell phone the inquisitive techmage looked at her phone only to see that the creature seemed to interfere with technology as in its place was strange artifacting and static.
“Fuxi, make sure to record this encounter… Fuxi?”
The lack of a response from her device threw her off guard for the creature's second leaving her skirt worse for wear. Now on the backfoot it took her device longer than expected to respond and even then the response was garbled and glitchy as the creature affected even her own technology.
“Ss systems… ccco pre mi..sed, sorry... Lixue I can’t detect the enemy.”
“That’s fine I expected as much just focus on primary functions I’ll delete the issue.”
Dodging yet another attack she looked down at her torn skit and then back to the creature as she sucked her teeth while preparing a spell.
“If you thought I needed my technology to fight think again, you should have thought twice before messing with my device now I’ll study what’s left of you."

It was supposed to be an ordinary day in the Kamihama Train Station. With a few bags over his back, filled with stuff he was taking from his childhood home to his new housing in Kukae Haven, Kin was sitting on one of the benches of the wide complex, browsing his phone while waiting for his train. After he returned back to the Haven from his spar session with Yume, he was informed by Kagamin that he should subscribe to the Haven's newsletter and also make sure to join their private social media pages. He should never miss the information about Hexes and the Wings of Magius that is posted there almost daily. That, and the memes page. Can't forget that one.
Even though their inside jokes were still completely impenetrable.
One ear still occasionally listened to what was going on around him - he could not miss the announcement when his train was about to leave, after all. And so, he began hearing worried chatter all around him. "What's going on there...?" "What happened?" "Is he going to be okay?"
"Huh?" Kin yelped and stood up. Was someone hurt? As it turns out, some commotion had happened by one of the trains. A man was lying on the ground right in front of the tracks, observed by an officer and the rest of the confused passengers, while a few more officers were running after a schoolgirl. Was she the one who attacked the man? From the chatter among the crowd who looked on to the incident, it appeared to be the case, but...
Briefly, the blonde teen squinted. That schoolgirl, with dark hair and red clothing, wasn't just running from the train station police. She was running after something. Having realized that they weren't going to catch up to a determined youth, the aged officers stopped in their tracks - but she continued running, just as fast as before. Not after a person, no - it was something floating.
Something that was sketched straight out of a child's doodling book, with narrow twig-like limbs and a bag on its head. There was only one thing that it could be, and it spelled disaster.
"Excuse me, please-" Kin began muttering after grabbing his bags and starting to push himself through the crowd. As he ran through the train station and out of it, he pulled his Soul Gem out of his bag and tossed the rest straight into a hedge fence, where they ended up buried within the bushes and leaves. Several questions bubbled in his mind as he chased after the schoolgirl, keeping a distance, but making sure to not lose sight of her. If she could see Familiars, and was fighting them, then was she a mage like him, a magical girl? If so, why hasn't she transformed yet? Was she just trying to get it to lead her towards the Familiar's Labyrinth? That was possible, and a possibility Kin retained in his mind - but why wasn't he informed of any Hexes in this sector, then?
Maybe he missed that message on the Kukae Haven wall. Or maybe he just doesn't understand exactly how this career works, yet.
Right as he was comfortably out of sight of the public, Kin activated his magical boy transformation and donned his golden adventurer outfit - then leapt up, travelling through the rooftops to track the chase from above. In an abandoned alleyway, the chase finally turned to a confrontation. Watching from the roof, Kin saw the schoolgirl get attacked and speak of how even without her technology, she'll mess the Familiar up.
Was she... not a magical girl, then? Either that, or she wasn't able to activate her transformation and described it as "technology", for some reason. Either way, she was in trouble. Trying to fight a Familiar at this state was madness.
Kin moved forward without hesitation. He leapt off, soaring through the air and landing beside the girl, then, right as the Familiar readied itself for another strike, grabbed her by the waist and legs and leapt up. There was a balcony a few floors up, watching over the alleyway, though clearly untouched for several years, seeing as the potted plants had long since dried up. That's where Kin landed and let go.
"Are you okay?" he asked. After all, the Familiar had struck her skirt. "I'm sorry, I'll explain what's going on, please stay safe for now!"
Immediately, he leaned off the balcony and threw himself down, summoning a sword in his hand during the fall, ready to finish off the terrorizing Hex minion.

While the hex had interesting powers it lacked basic intellect as its next attack was yet another direct charge. Falling back into a stance, Lixue focused mana into her fist preparing for a one punch knockout, but suddenly her body was hoisted in the air as she simultaneously rocketed multiple floors in the air.
"AHHHHH! Wh... gek!"
Feeling all of the colour drain out of her as her lung and stomach fought over the right to scream or hurl. Thankful the sudden theme park experience was short lived as she well whoever held her touched ground.
Holding back the urge to release her dinner on her would be kidnapper her oxygen starved brain only got bits and parts of what was said to her as she dazedly stared at the boy playing the role of a literal knight in shining armor.
"I felt better on ground level with the knockoff ghost."
As the colour returned to her face, Lixue expression and cadence changed with it as this stranger had her in an embarrassing position. "Who are you to whisk me away like some sort of damsel in distress I am not your princess you wanna be prince charming, put me down!"
Feeling as if she was being ignored as the boy left her instantly continuing his knighting in shining armor only offering an apology and asking her to stay safe aka stay out of the way. Insulted, but mostly light headed from the unexpected flight; she remained in reserve pulling out her phone to record the odd boy as he fell to meet up with the Hex.
Watching the boy intensely, Lixue quickly discovered that while he processed magic it was nothing like hers or anyone within TBAS for that matter. Despite using a sword there were no signs of a magic system or technology meaning that the boy was seemly able to materialize weapons at will something that only a small amount of Mages' were able to accomplish and even then one still needed materials to do so. Whoever this boy was he was not a Techmage something wholly different and not bound by the thin laws of mana conversion.
Taking her mind off the boy for a moment still recording while Fuxi reported telepathically on their status. "Systems nominal, apologies Lixue, but the interference seems to be no longer present I have also saved the frequency for later."
"Perfect could not ask for a better partner, though I believe we are simply out of the range of whatever odd interference the Hex gave off. Though for the moment let's change our focus towards the boy as he is the far greater threat."
"Understood though he does not appear to be an enemy."
"Today's friend is tomorrow's enemy. Though in this case, I meant it in a way that it threatens to upend everything we know about magic. While I am supremely interested in learning about how this system of magic works if there are a sizable amount of these practitioners this will vastly increase the difficulty of completing our mission if they turn out to be hostile."
Returning her focus to the golden boy, Lixue tempered her excitement with concern as she hoped his heroics were more than just an act as both she and Hex Hammer would be the underdog towards magic with seemingly no limits.

The schoolgirl's reaction to being carried away from the battle site was surprisingly negative - while Kin immediately understood that he probably should not have jumped so suddenly and caused such distress, her complaints about being rescued were... something else? Couldn't she tell that this Familiar was something unlike anything in the material world? And dangerous, too, to someone who did not have any powers...
He did not answer her complaints and dropped down to the battle instead. It was as he said, after all - he will explain what was going on later. She'll understand. Hopefully.
The Familiar was not discouraged by its victim's disappearance and the arrival of an armed Warlock in her stead - all it meant for the stick figure creature was another person to try to consume. Not only that, but Kin's flashy arrival, and the energy he emitted, had caused a handful more of the Familiars to come out of the woodwork - they, scattered not far away from their Hex's Labyrinth, were just in the area to join the fight.
Any individual Familiar was no match for even a magical boy in training. Once the bagged stick figure lunged at him much like it tried to lunge at the schoolgirl, Kin stepped to the side and grabbed one of its tiny limbs, using the creature's momentum to his own use and tossing it into the air with a twist of the arm. A second sword materialized floating next to Kin's palm and he sent it forward, piercing through the creature and rendering it to a harmless puff of magical energy.
Two more Familiars leapt at Kin from behind, but did not catch him off-guard. Suddenly, he slid forward and turned around - the two witchy creatures bonked at one another in mid-air instead of gnawing at their target, giving him free reign to slice across them both, cutting them apart. Much like the first Familiar, they both poofed into a small cloud of smoke and dissipated.
Taking an easier breath, Kin lowered his sword. "Alright, I don't think there's any more heading for us. You're safe." The weapon in his hand, as well as the construct he threw at the Familiar in the air, dissipated as well. The teen turned his head towards the balcony above, and flashed a warm smile. Perhaps that would help assuage any concerns about his intentions.
Kin ran up the nearby wall and landed on the balustrade.
"Again, sorry for the sudden intervention - perhaps I should have given you a warning before lifting you up to here," he began to explain, briefly brushing his hair from the faint feeling of shame. It was actually the first time he actually got to rescue an ordinary person from Hexes and their minions - it hasn't been that long since he gained his powers, and all of his previous confrontations were devoid of bystanders. Perhaps he'll do better next time. "What had gotten into you, though? I haven't seen anyone just... chase after a Familiar like this, if they can even see them. Or, are you a magical girl yourself?"

The more she watched the boy fight the more this seemingly limitless new magic showed its hand. While for all she knew the golden hero could be holding back or wisely using only the spells necessary to refrain from revealing his whole repertoire as she would have. However, from the brief encounter they had her "savorer" seemed to be the earnest type or at the very least play the role of the classic hero to a T.
As he quickly dispatched the first two others followed causing Lixue to grin as she had yet more time to overview the boy's magic. Yet even with the added numbers the boy still relied on his inhuman physical prowess and his ability to materialize weapons or perhaps only swords or just a single sword.
Sighing as the other two hexes were easily dispatched as the previous one causing nothing new to be learned. Nevertheless, she still had been able to at the very least get records from both Fuxi and of course her cell that she made mostly to blend in and fully expected to delete as she doubted the boy would be okay with his abilities being discovered by the public.
Still deep in thought as her golden savior's eyes met hers and of course the lens of her cell's camera. Returning the boy's smile with her own awkward and slightly guilt ridden smile as she lowered the camera out of eyeshot.
"Oh well that's good... yes" Breaking eye contact for only a moment to find that the moment was all the boy needed to somehow defy gravity and quickly return to the balcony he had previously marooned her on. Backing up into the wall out of sheer surprise at the boy's speed, Lixue continued to play the role of an average human though still surprised at his movements as he seemed to be very much like the Knights within TSAB.
"I... am sorry for recording you without your permission I'll delete the video!" Bowing to the odd boy while placing her hand over the tear in her lavender skit to hide her upper thigh as she apologized simultaneously as he did.
"What?"; Raising her head to look at the boy roughly her age puzzled as she expected the first thing out of his mouth would have been about the recording that could in the very least make him stand out as the general population who might simply see his abilities as fake most likely simply edited or a movie or tv filming. "Well, you were trying to protect me from whatever those things were so you do not have to apologize as you were only trying to help, and on that note, I suppose this is the right time to say thank you for thinking of me." Looking at her phone and showing the recording to the boy as she hit the delete button, everything appeared to be going as she planned until the conversation shifted to questions about her and not his own secrecy. "Familiar? Is that what those are called and chasing it as I did? Are you saying there are more of you with similar abilities aka magical girls though in your case I doubt you'd want to run around in a dress." Letting out a snicker as she could not help but make a joke. "Sorry I know answering a question with another question is rude. However, I am not a magical girl, I am just a girl, Nitta Kukiko of Mizuna Academy and she would preferably not be referred to as girl by the hero who does not even give his name to those her saves."

As it turns out, the schoolgirl had been filming Kin's battle with the Familiars, and when he hopped onto the balcony to greet her, she immediately began to panic and explain that she will delete the video at once. Kin hadn't even brought that up yet - though, he couldn't exactly protest. Technically, they were supposed to keep their abilities secret, as a sort of masquerade, to prevent a breakdown of society into panic.
He could also tell that the situation made the girl tense - technically, she had nowhere to go, and was cornered by someone who had just displayed superhuman abilities before her eyes. Kin could definitely understand the concern that this posed. So, before everything else, he said:
"Hold on, I'll get you back to the ground safely..."
and picked the schoolgirl up again - hopefully, she would not protest as much as she did last time. Kin made sure to descend more carefully this time, using his feet to slide down the wall next to the balcony to slow down his fall and land his feet on the alley below safely. There, he let the girl down. As it turns out, her name was Nitta Kukiko, and she was here from the all girls' academy of Mizuna Ward - not unexpected, and while Kin wasn't familiar with their uniforms, it did seem to be the Mizuna Academy one. The mere mention of "magical girls" left her confused, and being assumed to be one did not rub Kukiko the right way. She even took offense to the name.
Guess that guess went out the window.
Kin answered by tapping the Soul Gem embedded in his Warlock outfit. His magical wear dematerialized and was replaced by the casual clothes he wore when he first saw Kukiko and the Familiar in the train station, while his magical energy collected itself in the Soul Gem in his hand.
"In that case, you saw nothing," he answered, with a slightly mischievous, yet innocent smile. Convincing the girl that she saw nothing was probably going to be impossible, so he didn't rest much hopes in this shutting down her curiosity - so, the best he could do was answer in the least destructive way possible. "My name is Nishimine Kin, nice to meet you! I'm from the other side of the city - I saw you running after a Familiar in the train station and had to intervene to help you."
With a slightly lower mood, he looked back towards the skirmish site. "These things can eat people, and kidnap and capture people to do so. Many of the events which people attribute to suicides, or disappearances, are actually the work of them and their masters.... Don't try to run after them and fight them. Me and others like myself have sworn to fight them in everyone's stead - don't put yourself in harm's way."
To clear the mood, he turned back to Kukiko and flashed a smile. "There's more of us, you're right! We stay hidden, however, which is why you've never seen any of us before."

Caught up in her act, Lixue barely had anytime to response before she was yet again elevated into the unknown mage's arms yet again. Tightly gripping onto her torn skit while flashing a disapproving expression towards the blond boy as he made sure to make his decent far softer than their first encounter. "Just cause you are aware that I can't get down without your assistance, does not mean that it is okay to pick me up like some kind of doll". With her piece said she broke eye contact with the boy while pouting for the remainder of their decent out of embarrassment and wounded pride.
Quickly hopping out of the boy's arms just as they landed Lixue would fix her clothing while making sure to keep the torn side of her skirt out of view by standing in a pseudo relaxed martial stance while the boy would follow suit and return to more suitable attire. The method was similar to to her own device and barrier jacket, however the gem or whatever kind of device the boy held only changed positions possibly acting as a storage or battery for the abilities.
Lixue's wishes to study the gem and the boy further would be interrupted as the hero decided to return to the topic of secrecy, previously and rudely ended in his act of returned her to the ground.
Doing her best to not simply ignore the boy who referred to himself as Nishimine Kin by pretending to be attentive and friendly as Kin play the role of some sort of authority. As he continued to drone on, Lixue half expected him to tell her to look both ways when crossing or don't talk to strangers. However, while she wanted to simply just knock him out and preform a far less social information extraction; the mention of others like him gave her pause as others would no doubt look for him and Kin appeared to be more than willing to share what he knew with a complete stranger.
"Why have you sworn to fight against the failure and whatever their masters are? You said you had to intervene to save me, but not the man who was under their control. Is their a reason for the choice does it have to do with the gem that seems to be the source of your abilities?" Pressing Kin for information harder than before both out of annoyance for him attempting to tell her what to do, but mostly to gain as much information as she could as their interaction seemed to be nearing it's end.
Remaining silent for a moment while keeping his eyes on him, Lixue would bow halfway towards Kin. "Sorry, for asking so many questions even though I know I am suppose to have not seen anything, but I just can't chase the feeling that this will be the one and only time I'll ever see anything like this in my entire life! Even if I tell anyone no one will ever believe me that magic and the very heroes we read about are more than just fiction!" Rising to meet Kin's eyes as she pinches her cheek as it is a single within earth culture to check if they are dreaming.
Flashing a smile of her own to mimic Kin's own. "At least let me enjoy this moment a bit longer and maybe if you have time course would like to go out somewhere nearby to eat"? Fidgeting slightly and lowing her posture, Lixue hoped the act of a star stricken girl would be enough to string the boy along as earthing men are undoubtedly similarly weak to their baser instincts.

Maybe it was a mistake to give the basic information about Familiars and himself to Kukiko in the first place - it seems she is not going to stop until she gets all of the information she wants about the Wishmakers and their enemies. Granted, Kin couldn't have known he would get himself in trouble like this - how could he have possibly known that someone can see Familiars and fight against them, yet be completely clueless to them and their origins? There was a reason why he assumed her to be a magical girl out of costume when he first saw her.
"Uh, calm down, calm down, one thing at a time!" Kin exclaimed, waving his hands almost in a panic. Kukiko was barraging him with questions, then asserting that she had to know about something she didn't expect to witness any other time in her life, then declared that revealing secrets about the Wishmaker world was safe with her, and finally offered to go out together somewhere. All in all... a lot of things to address and a lot of things to answer, and even though Kin was excitable himself, he found himself a little overwhelmed by the girl's energy. She appeared completely ecstatic.
"Well, by the time I noticed you and the man, you had already kicked the man away and were chasing after the Familiar. If I could, I would have definitely saved that man myself, but I was fifty meters away behind several hundred people," Kin first addressed the question regarding his actions in the train station. "Why I'm fighting them is... well, a long story, and you don't wanna hear it, either." He voiced the end of his sentence with uncharacteristic strictness, as if ordering Kukiko that she should probably avoid touching that topic.
He didn't want to dump about his sister on any random passerby on the street, after all.
"Well, I suppose I have to make up for leaving you nauseous for all that sudden uplifting I did..." Kin finished, with a sheepish smile. "Sure, we could go out somewhere! I can't promise I won't have to keep most of the information secret, but I think I can explain some of the basics."
Who wouldn't say no to an attractive looking girl asking you out?

Lixue cocked her head while playfully resting her finger against her chin, "But you have already explained the basics everything else would go into more detail instead of a simple summary of "we are magic users that fight against evil!"" Following her teasing words with a valiant pose while pretending to draw an imaginary sword nearly forgetting about her torn skirt, showing off far too much than any girl would wish to a stranger yet this was all part of her plan as the human known as Kin seemed to prefer a naïve yet spunky Kukiko. "Eye level hero." Immediately as Lixue called her exposed flank to attention she pull and wiggle off her uniform's overcoat leaving only a simple white dress shirt in between further exposure.
Finished with her performance and teasing for the moment, Lixue tied her overcoat over the torn side of her skirt to regain her modesty for her sake and for the sake of their future meal plan. Though unfortunately, her offer of food was not the best of ideas as she was not familiar with the area and it would seem strange for a local to look at their phone to find a good place to eat. " Well I suppose we should start with what it is a magical hero eats to regain their strength; anything particular or does nutritional value not matter?" Playing off their past conversation, Lixue heaved the strap of her bag around her shoulder while making her way towards the main street only to turn back at the last minute to playfully lean forward resting her gaze on Kin. "Well don't keep me in suspense perhaps your eating habits might give way to the ability to become this magical girl you believe me to be. Can't say that I would not mind having magical abilities. Though other than your ability to materialize swords out of thin air; most of your abilities just seem to be superhuman for more superman than Gandalf though he did use a sword too so maybe you have the right idea."
