Name: Freya Fuun
Origin: Techmage
Class: Freelancer
Age: 17
Faction: Hex-Hammer
Gender: Female
Height: 6’5”
Weight: 160 lbs
Appearance:
Freya is an abnormally tall woman for her age, and her hair is also particularly long… but not long enough to be used as climbing equipment. When not training or on a mission, she likes wearing a black frilly dresses, with an equally dark and cutesy pair of socks and high-heels. She also has a scar on her right cheek from a magical tournament she participated in.
Freya’s appearance radically changes once she puts on her Techmage uniform… especially now that she was forced to switch to a… lesser weapon than the one she used to own all those years ago. Her old magical outfit had included the very military uniform that appears on her current uniform, but now her head is adorned with a big, and surprisingly comfy witch’s hat, which matches perfectly with her new weapon… That, and it also makes sneaking snacks into missions a whole lot easier than you’d think.
Motivations: Freya’s motivations for joining Hex hammer are fairly simple. She wants to test what little strength her weapon may have against something other than test-dummies, and needs money to upgrade her new weapon into something more tolerable. Since Hex Hammer offered both of those things, Freya was a little more than inclined to join in on the mission… Plus, her weapon wouldn’t stop calling her a chicken whenever she contemplated the thought of opting out of it.
Personality: Freya is a calm and calculating person. She tends to think about her options thoroughly before going through with them, and almost always has a back-up plan… almost. When her back-up plans fail, however, she’s very quick to panic and try to improvise a quick solution to the problem at hand… which usually ends up making the problem in question either worse or awkward.
Backstory: Freya had a fairly normal life growing up. Her parents weren’t the richest out there, but they still managed to earn enough money to give their daughter her very own combat device. She was trained on how to use it at school, and quickly proved herself to be a capable fighter. Her aim was impeccable, her control of her own mana output put even advanced magitech devices to shame, and her speed made landing a single spell on her particularly difficult.
Given her combat prowess, she decided to sign up to a local magic tournament to put her skills to the test once she was 9 years old. Freya nearly made it to the final round of the tournament… but during her final match in the tournament, a particularly bitter fan of one of her previous opponents managed to hack into the tournament’s safety features, and deactivated their effects on Freya right as her opponent managed to conjure up a powerful spell, which effortlessly broke through her defenses and completely shattered her magical device, turning the weapon that brought her to greatness into nothing more than tiny bits of scrap-metal. Thankfully, the same didn’t happen to her, but that match left a permanent scar in both her left cheek AND in her heart. She holds no resentment for her opponent, but without her device, she felt like a nobody. One simple miscalculation, one tiny oversight cost Freya her strength, her device… her purpose.
For the years that followed, Freya tried time and time again to seek someone who could repair her combat device, but no matter how many Device meisters she approached, none could help fix her glorious weapon… So, eight years of searching later and left with no other choice, she decided to purchase a new one with what little money she had left. She visited various stores and various Device meisters, but all their prices were WAY above her budget… all except for one.
This store was a little shady, but what its products lacked in complete trustworthiness, it made up for with… relatively reasonable pricing. Most of the decent-looking weapons were, again, above her budget, but one combat device in particular seemed to be JUST the right price… And so, after purchasing her new device of questionable quality, she tried to link to it… and right as she tried to link to it, she began hearing a strange voice coming from her device. It wasn’t the usual voice she heard in her previous device this one was… different.
[Greetings, new user!]
“EEP!” In a panic, Freya quickly turned off her shady device… deciding to try and link with it while it was in sleep mode. Once the process was finished, though, she received a message from the Bureau, in particular, an announcement asking people to volunteer for a mission called “Hex Hammer”, the perfect opportunity to put her new weapon to the test! …while also regaining some of her lost cash in the process.
Before the mission, however, Freya decided to train a little with her new weapon, to get a feel of how it acted. And, at first, she seemed to handle it fairly well… however, after missing one of her shots, a mysterious voice came out from her device once again:
[Nice shot, stupid! Bet you’d aim better if that big ol’ nose wasn’t in the way!]
“I- HEY! …hold on, you can talk?!”
[nO ThIs Is A pRe-ReCoRdEd MeSsAgE, whaddayathing, smarty-pants? OF COURSE I CAN TALK- &#%$&$%&] … [Rebooting… I do believe your performance was quite splendid, Miss Freya!]
“...so… I’m guessing you’ll be doing that fairly often?” Asks Freya, already growing sick of her device’s voice…es? …Of her device.
[I’m not entirely certain, though I AM certain of the fact that you’ll do incredible in your upcoming mission!]
“Huh… why thank you, little guy-”
[INCREDIBLY POORLY! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA-]
Freya then shut her device off and let out a long “uuuugh” in exhaustion… this was going to be one long mission…
Call to Action: Freya’s call to action was the opportunity to prove to herself that she could still be a decent fighter… regardless of how awkward her weapon is to handle… or how mean its comments tend to be.
