"Nobody is as devout as the Mother Superior!"
- saith the Mother Superior
A mysterious and secretive cult of Puella Magi. Knowledge of their existence persists only as a rumour. The exact details vary wildly between tellings, many of them contradictory. One is left questioning whether each story is actually a piece of a puzzle, and if you could actually put together a coherent picture by ruling out the false claims. That is, if you can figure out which claims are actually true.
Few outsiders if any have had any actual interactions with the Sisterhood. But sometimes, someone does make a verifiable report of unidentified Puella Magi lurking in the less populated areas of the city while reciting what sounds like vaguely religious verbiage. Sometimes alone, sometime in groups. Maybe someday, the mysterious Sisterhood of the Rose will reveal its truths to those who seek answers. But for now, all that Kamihama City has are hushed whispers, suspicious hearsay, and wild gossip.
Here are just some pieces that have spread more widely among Wishmakers:
- They dwell in the backrooms of Kamihama's churches
- Their official colour is pink, non-indicative of their name as roses are typically red
- Actually it's white, but pink is their secondary colour
- No, it's just a coincidence that every Sister tends to have a mixture of white and pink in her theme somewhere
- It's not a coincidence. It's divine providence. White and pink reflect the Image of the Goddess imprinted on every wish, and the ones who bear this colour scheme have the strongest expression of the Image
- Their emblem is a pink outline vaguely resembling a rose
- This emblem is small, but if you look in the right places, you'll find them
- They can indicate anything from the place being one of their holy sites, to a secret place of worship at a certain time of day, or even a place where they keep treasure
- The Sisterhood is led by a Puella Magi known as the Mother Superior, who is gracious as she is beautiful
- They hold secret knowledge that could help Wishmakers farm more Seeds
- Actually the secret knowledge is in how to find Hexes so you don't waste too much time hunting them down
- Actually the secret knowledge is more about the truth behind the Wings of Magius' claim of Salvation
- No, the secret knowledge is a magic word that will make your Companion give you a second wish
- Well more likely the secret knowledge is how to Adjust your own soul gem without having magic that fits an Adjuster
- They all have pink hair and dress in white
- Sisters look and dress just like anyone else
- The Sisterhood has actually infiltrated the Wings of Magius so most of them are actually disguised as Feathers
- Each Sister's magic is as powerful as ten Wishmakers
- Each Sister's magic is as powerful as seven, since that sounds more realistic
- Each Sister's magic is as powerful as a hundred, because they are divinely blessed
- They have convents all over the world
- Alternatively they have convents all over Japan
- More specifically, they have convents all over Japan, but only in remote places where they can worship in peace, which contradicts the earlier claim that they dwell in Kamihama's churches
- They don't need Seeds to maintain their magic
- Or, they don't need seeds that often, because they spend more time worshiping rather than fighting Hexes
- They collect otherworldly treasures, claiming them as blessed relics from their Goddess, of which there are even more potentially contradicting claims
- They don't actually gather treasure. The blessed items are just common household items like toothbrushes that don't go bad after six months of use
- The blessed items don't have such miracles, except reducing your grief when you use them
- The blessed items don't reduce grief. But if you gather seven of them, you can summon the Goddess for a wish. The blessed items then go inert for one year, and scatter across the globe in a spectacular fashion, ensuring the Goddess' wishes are in very limited supply
- The Goddess can grant a second wish to those who worship her
- The Goddess doesn't necessarily grant a second wish. She just amends the first one
- The Goddess can't change your first wish, but can give you a refund on your wish in case you regret making your contract, so you can think it over an make a better one next time
- The Goddess doesn't let you make a new contract. Once she refunds your wish, you lose the ability to make contracts with the Companions
- The Goddess does not deal in wishes at all, but purifies grief with her divine pink light
- The Goddess doesn't literally purify your grief, but provides counsel and consolation for the despairing
- The Goddess doesn't care about your mood, but she will occasionally bless you if you serve her devoutly
- The Goddess isn't actually pink themed. She's more of white themed
- To join the Sisterhood, you must renounce any earthly desires apart from your wish
- Actually, to join, you must renounce your first wish, so that the Goddess can give you a second one at the end of your devout service. Yes, even if that means weakening your powers by renouncing your wish
- The power of wishes is temporary. The blessings of the Goddess are eternal!
- Actually, to join, you must swear an oath to pay twelve percent (12%) of all your Griefbucks every month, as the Goddess will take care of that last bit of Grief personally
- No, to join, you must partake in a grueling initiation rite involving the ritualistic sacrifice of five captured familiars using a white dagger with a red gem embedded in the pommel, each one symbolising the Goddess' apostles
- You don't need to sacrifice familiars, just plushies coloured Pink, Purple, Yellow, Blue, and Red, in that order
- Actually you need six plushies, the sixth one should be Orange
- No you need the five original plushies and a slice of the most expensive cheesecake you can buy
- You don't sacrifice the plushies, you anoint them with holy rose water and then eat the cheesecake
- Actually you do need to sacrifice familiars, and they must match the colours of the Six Apostles
- The Goddess is the Mother Superior's grandmother, making her a demigod
- Only the Mother Superior is able to directly commune with the Goddess and interpret her will
- Nobody is as devout as the Mother Superior
