MISSIONS

When it's time to deploy and get some work done
Missions are special threads issued by Factions. Each Mission is a premade scenario or writing prompt that is relevant to the issuing Faction's interests, which players can use as a story hook for a thread. Accomplishing Missions will increase your favour with the issuing Faction, in the form of Faction Asset points (see the linked thread for more details).
That is, of course, assuming you are a member. In addition to gaining Assets from your faction, missions also give more gains than the average thread. However, there is a limit to how long they can go for. Missions might also give unique rewards, depending on the scenario.
Let's go over some of the basics.
ACCOMPLISHING MISSIONS
A Mission is accomplished by simply taking the prompt, starting a roleplay thread (labeled Mission), and accomplishing the Mission's given requirements. Now assuming the mission's requirements are met before the story is complete, you are free to finish the story of that mission in an Adventure, which will be graded separately, and as a normal Adventure thread would.
REQUIREMENTS
What these requirements are depend on the mission's difficulty rating and certain points that are unique to each mission, if any. As to what scenarios the missions actually entail, they could be anything from a slice of life story to an epic space battle. Usually, though, it's just a total number of words.

SCENARIO
That being said, the scenario is a plot hook with a story requirement. How you resolve it in the game is entirely up to you. Will you bring peace to two KMU Havens that are having a spat? Or will you bring down the authority of the Stewards Council and fight both of them at the same time to remind them of their place?
Will you stick to the letter of Hex Hammer's instructions and just merely observe a specific Wishmaker from a distance? Or will you step in and observe them on a more personal level?
The choice is yours.

MISSION TYPE
Most missions can only be done once per character. These are labeled "Unique". Some missions, however, due to their routine nature, can be done repeatedly. Those are labeled, well, "Repeatable".

NUMBER OF PLAYERS
How many players can join a mission? Up to four, if you guys can handle that kind of turn order.
Which is exactly why we say you can complete the story of the mission in an Adventure after the mission proper is done, because imagine four players doing an Easy (2k words) mission. It'll go by fast!

PLAYERS OF DIFFERENT ORIGIN
What happens when someone from a different Origin joins you on a Mission? Well, that character won't get Faction Asset points from the issuing faction, of course. Instead, their faction, if they have any, gains Origin Deduction, which plays into building up their Faction Bonuses.
You can read more on Faction Bonuses in the Faction Assets thread.

COMMUNITY-MADE MISSIONS
That's right! We emphasise community creativity here. So it's no surprise that we encourage YOU to come up with a mission and submit it to us for balancing! If the concept is deemed interesting enough, we'll put the Mission up on the board as well!

Standard Rewards are as follows, for Missions without Special Requirements:

Type: Unique, or Repeatable
Difficulty: Easy, Medium, or Hard
Requirements:
- Easy: 2000 Total Words
- Medium: 5000 Total Words
- Hard: 8000 Total Words
- None: The mission ends after meeting the word count requirement
- Hex Check: At the beginning of the thread, roll 1d100 for a 50% chance that a plot NPC becomes a Hex. If it rolls 50 or below, they will transcend into a Hex at the end of the mission. You must fight them in a mini-Hex Hunt that skips the labyrinth and goes straight to the Duel. This will be done in a separate Hex Hunt thread made after the Mission is Graded.
- Opposite Origin: A member of the Origin opposite that of the issuing Faction must be part of the mission party.
- Same Origin: Only characters from the issuing faction's origin are allowed on the mission party
- Combat Thread: After the mission is graded, the story will continue in a Combat Thread against a GM-controlled NPC. Choose either Skirmish or Duel for your submission.
- Beyond City Limits: The mission takes place outside of Kamihama City and depending on the scenario, may be followed by a Combat Thread against a GM-controlled NPC. Doppels will be deactivated. Grief Toll is halved for all participating Wishmakers, but reaching 100% Grief the first time will result in 2 Permanent Grief instead of just 1.
- AMC: After the mission is Graded, it will be followed by a Combat Thread with an active Anti-Magic Countermeasure field. Players will begin the fight with 3 stacks of Freeze. Choose either Skirmish or Duel for your submission
- Diplomacy: Each player involved in negotiating with the Mission NPCs must roll a Diplomacy Check at the beginning of their turn to equal or higher than the check number. This is 1d10+Stat, where the stat in question is used to attempt diplomacy. Whether using Body to intimidate the Mission NPCs, Mind to destroy them with facts and logic, or Soul to appeal to their better angels. The difficulty determines how high the check number is. Easy: 20, Medium: 35, Hard: 50. If more Diplomacy Checks are passed than failed, the Mission ends and rewards are distributed. If there are more failures than passes, the mission is completed with reduced rewards. Whether or not it is followed by a Combat Thread is up to your scenario. If so, choose Skirmish or Duel for your submission.
- Covert: Each player involved in hiding their presence must roll a Stealth Check of 1d10+Stat at the beginning of each turn. Difficulty determines the check number. Easy: 20, Medium: 35, Hard: 50. If one check fails, they are discovered. The mission can still be accomplished after discovery, but rewards will be reduced. Whether or not it is followed by a Combat Thread is up to your scenario. If so, Choose Skirmish or Duel for your submission.
- Idunno what else, you're welcome to invent stuff. Please help me.
