Name:
Nishimine Kin (JP)
Origin:
Wishmaker
Class:
Hero
Age:
16
Faction:
Kamihama Magia Union
Gender:
M
Height / Weight:
172 cm (5’8”) / 56 kg (123 lbs)
Appearance:
Slim and of fairly average height, Kin appears entirely unassuming, and you would be forgiven for assuming that he was no more than a harmless child. He has developed a bit of a complex about his child-like face and would fume a little about being treated as a baby by people around him. His blonde hair is long and combed into a long, braided ponytail, hanging off the back of his head, and his eyes are honey brown.
As a Warlock, he wears a fantastical get-up, with a dark breastplate vest, a white scarf on top of it running down his side, a cape with golden decoration, black pants, gloves and boots, again, with golden decal and a pauldron on his left shoulder. Thanks to his abilities, he is also able to compliment his appearance with various constructs, such as wings.
Outside of combat, he can wear various clothes of choice, but he prefers various bright colors, especially white. Of course, the long blonde hair stays.
Motivations:
Witnessing the horrific truth behind the numerous disappearances and unsolved crimes in human history, including his own sister, who became a Witch, Kin resolved to use his powers to make sure nobody else suffers the same fate (clueless of the true nature of his pact, yes). With these unbelievable powers, he can be a hero, and make the lives of others just a little happier and longer.
Personality:
For most of his life, Kin was hardly exemplary as a person. He was no bastard in class, friendly, active and helpful, but in no supernatural manner. Like millions of others across the planet, he pushed along with his life without much of an objective in mind, looking after himself, his sister and his friends. Of course, growing up without a true family, and having to look after his and his sister's life from a really young age had their effect. He grew up with a strong desire for justice, and hope that their relative plight and struggle would eventually be rewarded - after all, though it wasn't quite fair that he had to grow up without parents and his classmates did, he just had to make the most of what we had, and not stew in jealousy.
Losing Mikoto was a turning point in Kin's life. Not only did her fate and searching for answers began to plague his mind, but he had to make up for her loss in every day life, from the philosophical to the very mundane, such as doing all of his own chores. For the first time in his life, he felt truly alone - and this, combined with helplessness over Mikoto's loss and the ignorance of the society at large at their fate, strengthened his desire for justice. If his sister had to endure this much, if millions across history had to endure this much, if he had to endure this much... then something's wrong with the world at large! And if something is wrong with the world at large, then someone has to set things right!
By the time Kin had finally made his contract and made his Wish, his worldview had already shifted, and the realization that he finally has the power to accomplish something enhanced them further. He is a Hero type Wishmaker by the most pure sense of the word - seeing the powers he received during his contract as something that empowers him to a duty, a duty to help others and save others. He holds a strong sense of justice, believing that there are many across the world who are worse off and suffer through no fault of their own - and to whom he, as someone who has the means to make them better off, must offer that helping hand. So, his sense of "what is right", crucial for a hero, is instinctual and holistic, and he believes that anyone can realize these ideals if they reflect upon themselves - even the worst villains can be redeemed, somehow.
Backstory:
Mikoto Nishimine was an average student, a rather loud and nosy girl who always strived for just a little more than her orphaned life allowed no matter what, but one who was still generally friendly and approachable if you got to know her. When she turned twelve years old, however, something inside her clicked. She became more and more absent from home during their precious time after school and clubs, found herself new friends in other schools that nobody had even heard of before and, God be damned, she felt like she was simply built differently. Perhaps she secretly began working out, because even though she was by no means buff and well built, she found herself having no issue with even the heaviest chores in their household. Hell, one time she carried their sofa from the front of the door to the living room all by herself, without breaking a sweat.
Kin always grew up in his twin sister’s shadow, and though he generally avoided expressing it while she was still alive, he looked up to his sister while being jealous of her in almost every way.
The Nishimine twins lost their parents at a very young age and moved to their uncle’s house, quickly growing detached from their guardian, as he, a forty year old bachelor working in the dense offices of Kamihama City from morning to evening, found little to no time for the two teens which he had to look after upon the passing of his sister. So, they grew up generally relying on each other. Of the two, Kin got a better hang of their studies, excelling in math and physics in particular, while Mikoto was more sporty and more connected with their classmates in their school. So, they complimented each other’s weaknesses - Kin would help his sister with the notes for their lessons, while Mikoto taught her brother aikido that she learned on her after-school club activities.
Of course, siblings are siblings.
When that “something” clicked in Mikoto, Kin first began to realize it when she began going out during the afternoon and evening more and more often, sometimes for hours at a time, and never informing him of what she was doing. She’d always come up with half-hearted excuses, like additional lessons, or hanging out with friends, that only frustrated Kin. What’s worse, she was turning more and more independent - apparently, she no longer needed help with studies, or with chores, she was getting a hang of math even better than he was, not even talking about martial arts, where Mikoto would now easily take her brother down, incomprehensibly so. Were they finally drifting apart? And if so, what does that mean for him? Kin stewed in his frustration, sometimes refusing to speak to his sister for days, focusing on things he thought he was better at, like the school curriculum.
Until, one day, a little over two years ago, Mikoto disappeared. One evening, she left for a hangout with friends, and never returned.
By the end of the first week, Kin was making frantic calls to anyone he thought knew a little about his sister, desperate to hear what had happened to her, and whether she was okay. Nobody he made calls to knew anything, and were just as shocked as he was. Such disappearances were frequent across Kamihara, and most were willing to accept this as just yet another mark on an ominous statistic, but not Kin. He knew that the truth had to be somewhere - Mikoto wasn’t so careless, he thought, and even if someone had kidnapped her, captured her, killed her, at least he could find some trace. Somewhere?
Over time, the Kamihara City Police closed the case, owing to lack of evidence, and Mikoto was pronounced dead. Kin never lost hope, however, and slipped further and further into rage and despair as any searches he found kept turning out without any clues. His grades began to drop and he started to grow distant from the remnants of his family and his class. All these powerful emotions swirling inside of him were eventually noticed, and two years later, some answers for his searches finally came - though not in the way he was expecting.
One day, a mysterious, cat-like creature appeared before him, and, after initial fright, explained itself as someone capable of fulfilling any wish he wants, in return for a lifetime service as a Magical Boy, battling Hexes with fantastical magical powers. This didn’t appear all that convincing, and for some time, Kin wasn’t sure how to respond - but, with no other option, he gave it a go, and immediately requested the one thing that had been plaguing his mind for the past two years:
“I wish to learn what happened to my sister, Nishimine Mikoto, that caused her disappearance!”
The little creature did not hesitate, and presented Kin with a harsh, brutal reality - his distraught, pained, overwhelmed sister, engulfed by a horrific transformation that turned her into an otherworldly, malicious entity now roaming the world. According to the Companion, it is an unfortunate fact of life that all of humanity is unaware of, and that has claimed thousand of lives all across history - people being transformed into Hexes, malevolent beings that arise from the darkness of humanity and whose underlings devour even more souls for their multiplication, a dark chain reaction that claimed Mikoto’s life among many others.
This message left Kin distraught, yet resolute. Because now, thanks to his wish, he also became a Warlock and received fantastical powers that were perfectly equipped to handle Hexes and other malevolent beings, say, the renegades of the “Wings of Magius”. For the first time in years, he received a new purpose in life - to channel this rage and grief that had almost entirely overtaken him into something profound, something that could help others, make their lives a little better, and prevent others from suffering the same fate as his sister.
Call to Action:
Kin's call to action is his transformation into a Wishmaker - it happened mere days before the start of the game, so, he has only recently acquired his abilities and earned his resolve to prevent any more fates like that of his sister.

STARTING DOPPEL
Doppel Name: Mephistopheles (Servant of Wrath)
Activating Doppel covers Kin in a massive construct composed of any material in his surroundings - wood, dirt, rocks, whatever applicable - that takes the shape of a clawed floating monstrosity. It stores Kin inside of itself, safely floating and powerless, while destroying anything and everything surrounding it.
Much like for most other Warlocks, the power is what this Hex side tempts Kin with. You need more, and more, and more power - without it, you can't save anyone, you can't help anyone, you can't stop anyone. And there is nowhere you could find more power than in your all-powerful Doppel.
Effect: Double (x2) the damage roll results on your attacks while this Doppel is active.
Aura: Reduce Defence by a quarter (-25%) for yourself and allies while this Doppel is active.
Duration: 2 turns
Cost: Reduce your Defence by half (-50%) for the remainder of thread. Cannot be cured.
