Name:
Hikari Akimoto
Origin:
Techmage
Class:
Elite
Age:
20
Faction:
Hex Hammer... Eventually, planned to be, for now she's more independent in practice.
Gender:
F
Height / Weight:
6'2/160
Appearance:
Motivations:
Hikari is a street kid from Earth, and without much in the way of ties to this world she's aiming to find out if there's any place for her on others. Besides an interest in these strange people from another planet she's yet to meet in person, she's also driven by the simple desire to help others and put the newfound power she holds to good uses. If someone's strong, they should be using it to help people out right? That's her belief anyways.
Personality:
Hikari is best summed up as friendly but violent, she's always quick to introduce herself and try to make new friends, but at the same time she'll throw down for any reason she deems needed. She's also quick to joke around and take things less than seriously, even with a deadly fight on her hands it's better than letting herself freak out and begin spiraling into worrying pointless. Having grown up in an orphanage and on the streets, the girl's more than used to things not going well or even remotely as she had planned them to.
Besides her general nature she feels strongly compelled to take a shot at those she thinks abuse their positions, having seen such things done far too often against those like her on Earth has left an abiding hatred for anyone performing similar actions. Even in a whole new world humans don't seem all that different to her, for good and for ill.
Finally as a former delinquent her respect for the rules is... Limited, while she's willing to follow those she already agrees with and isn't actively seeking to break laws for no good reason, Hikari's more than willing to go against anything she deems unjust and unfair.
Backstory:
As a young child Hikari Akimoto found herself within an orphanage without any clue who her parents were or how she'd ended up there, growing up the staff were nice enough and she made friends among the other children fairly easily being an outgoing athletic girl who had no problems dealing with most interactions. But she'd always be left wondering why exactly she was in this place given she'd began life without any clue what had happened.
Later on the girl would take up fighting and aiming to defend others, a willingness to brawl against bullies and other sorts she deemed in need of a beating during school didn't lead to anything like a good record, but it did mean she grew a keen head for how to tackle such problems and was fairly popular among those in need of such help. Her actions made her disliked among the staff, and beloved among those students in need of the kind of help she was offering.
By the time school was finished she had... No direction in life and no clue where to go, she began working a simple retail job for the need to stay alive. It didn't really make her feel good about life or provide anything she wanted, but it was paying the bills somehow and that was enough at that time. It was also filling the woman with a growing resentment for life in general, but hey whatever, better than being on the streets. And so things went for two long years.
Later on though Hikari would stumble across something she'd have though impossible mere moments before discovering it, a crashed space ship with as far as she could tell it's whole human crew dead. Not aliens or anything stranger still, but people like anyone else as far as her eyes could see at the time. And thus the decision was made to go further into this damaged construct, searching for any survivors and finding herself face to face with the lone being that hadn't perished in this ship's crash landing...
A staff, a talking staff that called himself Surtr. Now being entirely confused by things even more than before Hikari chose to simply take the Device with her and ask it how it's usage functioned. Within a few days of instruction from the weapon basic functions would be something she could fairly reliably do, but despite her questioning and the fact he was clearly helping the AI within her new staff was unwilling to explain how exactly to get in contact with his creators or what precisely brought them here. Something about not being forbidden from aiding locals, but having express orders not to reveal their group's position and nature to them without being authorized. and so they'd set out together, the girl aiming to learn more about his people, the staff simply not wanting to lay around bored and unused when a mage of clear talent was present.
Surtr, A Staff of Fury and Flame:
Personality: As an Intelligent Device being used by someone with no clue and no experience, he is currently his master's only source of magical knowledge and help. Hikari relies upon the Device for much, and he's well aware of that fact, having no issue reminding her of it at times in a dry sardonic tone. Despite poking fun at his new user sometimes and enjoying lecturing about magic, he is still set upon being of help and providing what useful knowledge he can. Though certain programming restrictions currently prevent him simply explaining how to make contact with the Hex Hammer, a source of constant annoyance and frustration on his part.
In fact complaining about Hex Hammer and TSAB rules seems to be a favored hobby of this rather chatty Device, when he isn't running up against protocols preventing such words he's more than happy to expound on which rules he finds stupid and pointless. Perhaps then it's no wonder that he finds a new fairly anti authority user to be overall refreshing to work with, though both parties are capable of admitting to the many benefits which come from having large scale support, begrudgingly in his case.
Appearance: Surtr is a highly advanced piece of magitech equipment, lines of Mana trail through the weapon when in use and it all stablizes at the center point of the staff's tip. A constantly burning crystal of bright red set at it which does the job of channeling power, the rest being constructed of high tech laden black metal which holds slots for loading Cartridges that were woefully destroyed in the crash. Outside of his obviously magical combat form, this Device appears to be a simple ring set with a much smaller version of the crystal that handles Mana channeling when used in battle. Finally when being used for powerful Gauge Spells, the staff opens up to reveal more lines of mystic circuitry, released to enhance the cooling process as he begins producing power at a rapid rate, the rapid flow of Mana throughout causing it's user to heat up toward levels that might well be dangerous if not protected by mystic power.
